In this tutorial, you will work with one image you chose and you will create a nice looking illustration. I tried to make this one simple, but at the same time to make it look good. I hope you enjoy the tutorial and try it with your own tools and stock.
Start working by creating a new file of 1280×1024 px and 72 dpi. Then take the Paint Bucket Tool (G) and give the new file this color #222222

Photoshop CS4" />
Select for this layer – Filter>Noise>Add Noise
Press on this layer the next combination CTRL+SHIFT+U
…choosing also Filter>Filter Gallery>Brush Strokes>Accented edges
Make a copy of the last made layer, using on the copy the next option: Filter>Blur>Motion blur
Set the next indicated parameters for the layer: Blending mode-Linear Dodge
Next we’ll select the Ellipse Tool (U) and represent a black circle:
Applying the same tool, try to make a kind of circumference around the black made circle. Fill 0%
Set the next parameters by making a mouse click on the layer we work with on the layers’ palette. Blending Options>Stroke
Using the Custom Shape Tool (U), try to make a star of white color on our basic picture:
The Convert Point Tool will be helpful in marking out the inside tops (pressing SHIFT button). Next step press CTRL+T and finally select Maintain aspect ratio to press them uniformly.
Now put together both layers of the black circle and the circumference around it into a rasterized one (press CTRL button to mark out the corresponding layers and then press CTRL+E). Make a mouse click on the layer containing the white star while pressing Ctrl button on the star icon on the layers’ panel. Selecting the rasterized layer below, try to press DELETE button. We’ll get a star on the rasterized layer. Finally move off the layer containing the star.
Find in Internet a photo of a skateboarder. For this tutorial, I used this picture from Flickr. I would like to thank the author of this picture.
Cut it out and insert it on the picture:
Next download a set of ready to use brushes for Adobe Photoshop, named: Scratchygrunge_drowningheart_stock. Now we’ll make a mouse click on the bottom part of the layers’ panel on the rasterized layer of the cut star on Add a Mask solution. Then apply the mentioned above brush:
